ERR brings to you a glimpse at a fairytale scene from the Tallinn Christmas market, which opened on the Old Town Square this Friday.

At the heart of it all - apart from Santa and his reindeer, who are eternal favorites with the kids - is Estonia's most famous Christmas tree, surrounded by little stands selling a broad range of handicrafts. This year's tree is approximately 23 meters (75.45 feet) in height, and comes from the Kose Parish, located in northern Estonia in Harju County.

The market also features Estonian food and drink of the season, illuminated snow sculptures and a mini-zoo – including rabbits, goats, lambs, ponies and geese.

A cultural program is held as part of the market every weekend and on special days, with performances by song and dance groups and choirs from different counties.

The market is opened daily from 10:00-19:00 until January 10. Hot Christmas drinks will be offered until 23:00.
