Ivo Varts, Drummer for Progressive Rock Bands, Dies at 51
The Estonian music world suffered a loss Tuesday with the death of percussionist Ivo Varts.
Born in the town of Rakvere, Varts played for several of Estonia's most popular bands, including Ruja, Kaseke, In Spe, Mahavok, Propeller, Haak, Compromise Blue and Apelsin.
Jaak Ahelik, another drummer, said Varts died after an accidental fall last weekend.
"As a person, Ivo may not have been as well known as many others, but he played in a lot of groups," Ahelik said.
