Business Insider magazine has included the picturesque Estonian village Käsmu among its list of “16 incredible European destinations that haven't been discovered by tourists.”

The magazine said that for those looking to avoid the tourist traps of Europe, there are still undiscovered destinations to explore, including Käsmu on Estonia's norther coast.

“Käsmu sits on the coast of Estonia and is part of Lahemaa National Park. It's known as the 'Captain's Village'. Besides its sea museum, Käsmu also offers multiple options for outdoorsy types, such as fishing, sailing, horseback riding, and canoeing,” it described the village.

In Estonia, Käsmu is a well-known recreation area – its charm has made the seaside fishing village especially popular among intellectuals, writers and musicians. Composer Ülo Vinter wrote some of his most memorable tunes in his Käsmu home and Arvo Pärt and Gustav Ernesaks have also stayed here.

For visitors, there is the Käsmu Sea Museum and since 2008, the annual folk festival Viru Folk is held in the Käsmu peninsula every summer.

Starting this week, Käsmu also hosts a concert series with some of Estonia's best-known artists taking to the stage.
