Multiplex to be Built on Lasnamäe's Edge
A large modern cinema will be built in the Panorama City shopping centre positioned at the gateway to Tallinn's highest-populated district, Lasnamäe.
The owner of the multiplex, to be completed by 2015, is Forum Cinemas, which currently operates the Coca-Cola Plaza multiplex in Tallinn and two smaller cinemas in Tartu and Narva.
The shopping center's planners have agreed to devote 3,200 square meters of space to the six movie theaters, reported uudised.err.ee. The largest theater has over 300 seats, four have approximately 100 seats and a VIP theater is to have close to 70 seats.
According to Forum Cinemas executive director Kristjan Kongo, the consumers are increasingly seeking a shopping center where the family shopping needs can be combined with varied entertainment. The company is also building a 300-square-meter candy shop and cafe to the shopping center.
Panorama City complex is to be built on the interesection of Narva maantee and Smuuli tee, roughly 300 meters away from the Song Festival Grounds.
It is the newest cinema to be announced. It was reported in April that another one, also to be built in eastern Tallinn but closer to the airport, is to open in 2014.
