Eesti Laul, the nation's other song contest, which will name Estonia's Eurovision entry on February 21 has strong ties to the Superstaar competition.

Two of the last three Estonian Eurovision singers won the Estonian idol competition and of the ten finalists this year, Luisa Värk (second in 2007), Elina Born (second in 2012), Robin Juhkental (competed in 2009), and the due of Triin Niitoja and Jaanus Saago (both took part and made the top 5) have all participated in the Superstaar competition.
