Winny Puhh Stuns Fashion Show Attendees in Paris
Estonia's punk-metal band Winny Puhh shocked an audience in Paris Thursday, screaming into the microphone and swinging upside-down from ropes as models demonstrated American fashion designer Rick Owens' latest on the catwalk.
Owens was introducing his gothic-style men's collection for spring-summer 2014.
The Associated Press wrote that Owens is known for “high-octane” shows, but that it was "bizarre" even for him and revelers were so distracted by the sideshow that they didn't notice the entrance of some of the models.
“It was kept as a big secret, in order to shock and surprise the public. People literally dropped their jaws,” ETV entertainment chief Mart Normet said.
Although Winny Puhh's act placed a mere third in Estonia's Eurovision qualifier this year, it has stolen some international thunder since then, drawing many more clicks on YouTube than the country's Eurovision entry. A journalist with the Guardian said in his blog in May that it was a “crime” that Winny Puhh did not perform at Eurovision. The band has been around since 1993.
Yesterday, the Guardian featured a picture of the fashion show in its photos of the day gallery yesterday.
