Positivus Festival kicks off near Latvia-Estonia border
The annual Positivus music festival starts today in the coastal town of Salacgrīva, Latvia, just 10 kilometers from the Estonian border. 19 Estonian acts will play at the Baltic’s biggest summer festival.
The festival, lasting from Jult 17-19 and taking place for the ninth time, has become one of the most popular in the region, managing to present many new artists and attracting a trendy crowd.
Estonian music festival Tallinn Music Week is responsible for introducing fresh sounds and breakout acts from Estonia, including folk band Curly Strings, Estonian-Swedish electronic/jazz group Miamee and hiphop crew Gorq Lana.
Estonia's most successful music export Ewert and The Two Dragons, currently touring with their latest release “Circles”, will take the main stage on Saturday night.
Indie-rockers Sibyl Vane, Galvanic Elephants and The Werg, electropop unit Würffel, ghostpop group Zebra Island, as well as group of Estonian DJ's will also entertain festival-goers.
Positivus 2015 headliners are Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters, Placebo, Kasabian, Warpaint, St.Vincent and Basement Jaxx.
