Latvian Chain to Open Second Eatery
Lido, a restaurant chain that is an cultural institution in its native country of Latvia, will open a second Tallinn location in an addition to the Ülemiste shopping mall.
Known for pouring on folksy kitsch and its wide array of cafeteria-style fare, the current five-year-old location at the Solaris mall has proved to be a venue embraced by an eclectic clientele.
With 300 seats and 1,400 square meters of room, the new location will feature the chain's latest blend of traditional and modern elements, also seen in the new Domina shopping center in Riga.
"Lido has developed its business plan for the next five years," Lido's general manager Rita Auzia was quoted saying by menu.err.ee. "The new strategy is to open more new restaurants outside Latvia."
The new addition to Ülemiste has 32,000 square meters of retail space. The food court will also feature the fifth BabyBack location, an Estonian-owned American-style barbecue chain that is also no slouch in the kitsch department.
