The HeadRead literary festival, which is on its 7th year, will bring to Tallinn a host of celebrated novelists, most notably Margaret Atwood. The festival takes place on May 27-31.

The festival offers various literary events, including seminars and workshops, conversations with renowned authors, poetry readings, literary cafés and film screening.

The events will feature over 110 authors, including 30 internationally acclaimed speakers from abroad.

One of the best-known guests at this year's festival is a Canadian poet, novelist and environmental activist Margaret Atwood. Winner of the Booker Prize and several other leading literary prizes in the world, Atwood's works have been translated to more than 40 different languages.

The younger generation of writers will be represented by a Nigeria-born British literary prodigy Helen Oyeyemi, the author of The Icarus Girl and The Opposite House.

The guests also include Israeli author and peace activist David Grossman (The Yellow Wind, To the End of the Land), Russian playwright, screenwriter and historian Edvard Radzinsky (Stalin: The First In-depth Biography Based on Explosive New Documents from Russia's Secret Archives, Alexander II: The Last Great Tsar), Russian writer and translator Marusya Klimova (Blue Blood), Welsh storyteller and founder of the Tales From Beyond the Border Storytelling Company David Ambrose, and English poet, performer and novelist Joolz Denby, among many others.

The events will take place between May 27-31 in various locations around Tallinn. You can find the full program here and the list of performers here.

The majority of the events are free of charge.
