Birth Rate Nears 20-Year High, Accident Deaths at 60-Year Low
Birth/death rate statistics were promising in the month of November for the first time since 1990. Ansip said that in addition to more births, the positive numbers could be a result of a dramatic decline in deaths resulting from accidents.
The Prime Minister was happy to point out a major fall in traffic-related fatalities. This year marks the lowest number of deaths resulting from car accidents in 60 years. That figure is well under 100.
"This is due to the hard work of the Road Administration and the police. Investment into roads has begun giving results and surveillance has improved significantly. We need to thank the people," said Ansip.
