Hungarian Film Festival Takes Over Tartu
The 9th Hungarian Film Days, a three-day festival introducing the nation’s contemporary cinema, kicked off in Tartu on April 17.
This year, the event focuses on modern film adaptations of both classic and contemporary Hungarian literary works, such as “Relatives” by Zsigmond Moricz and "Tranquility" by Attila Barti. All films are being shown with English subtitles.
In addition to these adaptations, visitors will be treated to three popular films that have had among the biggest influence on contemporary Hungarian language. Those will be shown on April 18 right after the main program.
The festival ends on Thursday with a concert by local Hungarian folk music ensemble Csurrento.
On April 21, the second Hungarian Children's Film Day will take place in Tartu, showcasing the best-known Hungarian animated works.
