Prime Minister joins London donors’ conference for Syria
Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas will be in London from Wednesday to Thursday to discuss topics regarding Syria with his European colleagues at the Supporting Syria and the Region conference.
The conference, to which the governments of the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, Kuwait and the United Nations have invited political leaders from around the world, is taking place on Thursday February 4, preceded by events for businesses and NGOs on Wednesday.
In a joint announcement, the inviting governments pointed out that the 2015 United Nations appeal for humanitarian aid for Syria and the region of 8.4 billion dollars wasn't reached. At 3.3 billion euros, less than half of the sum was collected.
The Supporting Syria and the Region conference aims to raise funds for humanitarian aid in Syria and the surrounding countries.
