Pork purchase price same, milk purchase price down 14% on year in July
Figures released by Statistics Estonia revealed that the average purchase price of pork bought by recognized meat processing companies in Estonia remained approximately the same on year in July, while the average purchase price of raw milk in Estonia decreased by about 14.1 percent on year.
The average purchase price of pork, which amounted to 2,942 tons, totaled 1.56 euros per kilogram in July 2015.
Beef purchases accounted for 647 tons of meat whose average purchase price fell 5.6 percent year-on-year to 1.99 euros per kilogram.
Purchases of mutton and goat meat totaled 4 tons, the average purchase price per kilogram of which was 2.91 euros, a 30-cent, or 11.6 percent, increase on July 2015.
Recognized meat processing companies in Estonia slaughtered a total of 42,300 pigs, 2,700 heads of cattle and 200 sheep in July.
Milk price dips over 14 percent
The average purchase price of raw milk was 200.43 euros per ton in July, a 14.1 percent decrease compared to July 2015.
Dairy companies in Estonia purchased 61,000 tons of milk during July, a 3.5 percent decrease on year.
Compared to June 2016, the purchase price of milk decreased by 1 percent, while the amount of milk purchased remained on the same level.
The production of drinking milk increased by 1.3 percent year-on-year to 8,000 tons. The 2,200-ton output of cream remained on the same level, while the output of soured milk increased by 8.6 percent to 3,800 tons.
Butter output increased by a quarter to 500 tons in July, while the production of cheese decreased by 2.6 percent to 3,700 tons.
