Tallinn City Transport (TLT) Board of Directors confirmed Volvo to be the winner of the procurement tender for 20 diesel-electric hybrid buses.

According to TLT Chairman of the Board Enno Tamm, the procurement is a continuation of the company's strategy which takes eco-friendliness and customer comfort into consideration. Thus far, 24 hybrid buses as well as 184 diesel buses fitting Euro 5 and Euro 6 pollution norms have been purchased, bringing the average age of its rolling stock down to 8.5 years.

Last year, TLT purchased 24 hybrid buses, which were put into use on Tallinn city bus lines 42 and 43. The hybrid buses to be purchased from Volvo are slated for us on trolley lines as well as during rush hour in the city center.

According to the conditions of the public procurement, the delivery deadline of the 20 new hybrid buses is the second quarter of 2017.
