Strong winds prompt Lindaliin to cancel Tuesday Tallinn-Helsinki departures
Lindaliin, the Estonian operator of high-speed catamarans between Tallinn and Helsinki, has canceled all scheduled Tuesday departures as well as Wednesday's 8 a.m. departure from Helsinki due to strong winds.
Lindaliin cancels departures when wind speeds at sea exceed 15 meters per second, or 33.5 miles per hour, and wave heights exceed two meters, or 6.5 feet.
Lindaliin has two fast catamarans, the Karolin and the Merilin, which run betwen the capitals of Estonia and Finland under the Linda Line Express brand.
Strong winds forecasted for Tuesday have also prompted operators to cancel morning departures of ferries operating between the port of Roomassaare and island of Ruhnu as well as between the islands of Saaremaa and Hiiumaa.
