Estonian Air, the country's national carrier, folded after 24 years in operation. The company was founded in December 1, 1991.

The company inherited a dozen Antonov An-2 aircraft from Aeroflot's Estonian subsidiary and soon purchased Tu-134 and Jak-40-type planes. First Boeings were added to the fleet in 1995. It has also flown Fokker50, Saab 340A, Bombardier and Embraer planes.
