Number of Job Vacancies Up by 31%
Over 6,300 jobs were up for grabs in Estonia in the fourth quarter of last year, 31 percent more than in the same period of 2010.
The result put the nationwide job vacancy rate at 1.3 percent, Statistics Estonia said in a March 8 release.
Jobseekers might have had slightly better luck in the public sector last quarter, where the vacancy rate was at 1.4 percent compared to 1.2 percent in the private sector. Vacancy rates were highest in a category that statisticians label "public administration, defense and social security" where they hit 2.6 percent.
However, those hoping to find a job in mining and quarrying would have had a tough time - the category showed the lowest vacancy rate, just 0.1 percent.
Transportation and storage along with accommodation and food services came out on top in terms of job vacancy growth over the year, nearly doubling their numbers from the fourth quarter of 2010.
