Ferry Passengers Guzzle Quarter of Nation's Beer, Says Brewery
A. Le Coq CEO Tarmo Noop has said that 25 percent of the nation's beer is sold in and around the Port of Tallinn.
“Currently, 25 percent of beer, and 35 percent of cider and long drinks produced in Estonia, are sold in the port and on passenger ferries,” Noop told Äripäev yesterday.
"Without that, Estonia's beverage industry would be in relative hardship."
While there has been a slight dip in total sales of beer produced in Estonia since last year, sales in the port area have increased by 25 percent, Noop said.
Both A. Le Coq and Saku, the nation's two largest breweries, said sales of other alcoholic beverages and bottled water have increased since last year.
