Luik: The New Generation of Businessmen Need More Alpha Qualities
Speaking at the Hedman Partners law office's jubilee forum last week, Ekspress Group founder Hans H. Luik said that his generation of businessmen were braver and more venturesome than the current crop of entrepreneurs.
Luik said that his generation, now in their 50s, had no business education nor any knowledge of foreign languages, but they could tolerate stress very well, Delfi reported on Friday.
“When I am hiring new heads of my companies, I see fewer and fewer people I can call alphas. They are well suited to work for a consultation or insurance firm, which isn't bad in itself, but that is not how we get new leaders,” said Luik.
“The new generation must find motivation to work long hours, to give everything of themselves, to develop whatever they are working on […] and be brave enough to take the reins,” said Luik, adding that risky investments are inherent to his, the so-called winners, generation.
