Car Sales Up by 30% Year on Year
A total of 1,128 new cars were sold in Estonia in February, a nearly 30 percent increase compared to the same period of 2011.
From January to February, the number grew by 15 percent, according to recent data from the Association of Automobile Dealers and Service Companies.
The total for the first two months of 2012 exceeded the same period of last year by over 23 percent, with Toyota, Skoda and Volkswagen remaining the most popular brands sold in the country.
Last year, Estonians purchased 15,350 new vehicles, an annual rise of 73.5 percent. However, the figure is still modest compared to pre-recession boom years. In 2007, for instance, a total of 30,900 new cars were purchased.
