205 electricity micro producers join Elering grid in 2015
A record 205 micro producers, mostly using solar panels to produce electric power, joined the network of Estonian energy distributor Elering last year.
This puts the total number of micro producers on the grid at 515. They have a combined capacity of 5.26 MW, and produced a total of 2,138 MWh of electricity last year alone, twice the amount produced in 2014.
Most of them joined the grid in Harju county, where Elektrilevi built 73 connection points last year. All in all, at least three micro generation plants were built in each of the counties Elektrilevi serves, the company reported.
While at the beginning of micro production in Estonia four years ago the most popular power source was wind, trends have shifted towards solar energy.
