Fewer Companies File for Bankruptcy
The number of business bankruptcy declarations decreased last year to 1,029, which is still the second highest in a decade.
Twenty-six fewer bankruptcies in 2010 was still good news because in 2008 the figure had bulged by more than twofold, according to the business credit reporting agency Krediidiinfo.
As in the rest of the EU, those most at risk in Estonia were working in the accommodation, catering and construction sectors, in which every seventh business went bankrupt, compared to every 147th business in general.
The speed at which bankruptcies are decreasing puts Estonia in ninth, along with Germany, among other EU countries.
