Ferry operator Tallink and the Seamen's Independent Union have reached a agreement whereby salaries increase by 8.4 percent on average.

The deadlock was broken last night with the help of a state conciliator, and Tallink agreed to implicate the gross pay rise retroactively from January 1, uudised.err.ee reported on Wednesday.

An agreement on the total financial sum of the pay increases had been agreed earlier, but the sides were at odds over the exact distribution. The seamen will get a summer bonus, it was decided.

The collective agreement affects around 1,400 staff.
