Estonian Air Carries 30% More Passengers in May
In May the number of passengers carried by the national carrier came to 70,781, with 60,702 on regular flights. Thus, the total number of passengers increased by 31 percent compared to the slump year of 2010.
The year-on-year increase for passengers on regular flights was 28.5 percent.
From June 1, AirBaltic's former commercial director Tero Taskila replaced Andrus Aljas as CEO of Estonian Air, a move that is expected to be a start of the company's more aggressive expansion policies.
In the first five months of 2011, Estonian Air carried a total of 239,364 passengers, showing a 17.2 percent rise year on year. On regular flights, the increase was reported to be 21.9%.
The national carrier operated 4,495 flights in the first five months of 2011, which is 11.8 percent more flights year on year. According to the company report, the 15-minute punctuality was 90.9% during the period.
