Kuehne and Nagel Taps Tallinn for IT Support Center (1)
International logistics giant Kuehne and Nagel said it will establish an IT support centre in Estonia, a business daily reported.
The company started looking for ways to boost the capacity of its existing Hamburg IT centre last year.
Martin Kolbe, the group's IT director who was a member of the German president's delegation on his Estonia visit last week, told Äripäev that cultural fit and local talent tipped the choice in favor of Estonia, over other countries in the region.
"Creativity is important because we don't want to give our employees small bits, but large assignments," he was quoted as saying.
Other advantages he listed included the high baseline level of IT penetration in society and the country's developer clout.
"Naturally other countries also have capability when it comes to IT, but therepeople are more in support units, they work on a very specific program, they don't develop anything themselves. Which is what we see here."
Kuehne and Nagel accounts for roughly 10 percent of the world's freight forwarding.
