KFC and Pizza Hut could soon enter Estonian market
Owners of the Yum! franchise, which includes KFC and Pizza Hut, in the Baltics and Finland said Estonia is the next destination, having recently moved into the Lithuanian and Latvian markets.
“Right now we are focusing on finding good locations in Riga and larger Lithuanian cities, to open the next restaurants. Estonia is undoubtedly our next destination, where we want to break through with KFC Yum trademarks,” Sigurdur Sigurdsson, head of the company which owns the franchise rights, said, reported Defli.
Lithuania currently has four KFC and two Pizza Hut restaurants, and Riga recently opened its first KFC. The company is also planning to open seven new Pizza Hut restaurants in Finland.
Sigurdsson did not give a date for opening a restaurant in Estonia, only saying his company is working out a development plan and ironing out details, adding that it will happen soon.
The last world-wide fast food restaurant to enter the Estonian market was Subway, in March 2013. It now has eight stores in Tallinn and close by. KFC has nearly 19,000 locations and Pizza Hut over 11,000 around the world.
