January Car Sales Up 14.6%
A total of 1,331 new cars were sold in Estonia in January, which is 14.6 percent more than in the same month of last year, recent data of the Association of Automobile Dealers and Service Companies has shown.
January sales also increased by around 15 percent compared to December - a traditionally less profitable month for car dealerships. Compared to November, the figure was 9 percent lower.
Last year, Estonians purchased 15,350 new vehicles, which constitutes an annual rise of 73.5 percent.
That gain, however, is only impressive compared to the depressed sales market of the crisis years. Compared to pre-recession years, the figures are modest. For example, in 2007, a total of 30,900 new cars were purchased.
