Eesti Energia Requests Major Price Hike in Narva (1)
Eesti Energia has submitted a request to raise heating rates in Narva by 41 percent, as current prices have been in effect since 2009.
Eesti Energia cited increasing costs of production - oil shale excise, CO2 quotas, technical and personnel costs - as the reason for the requested price hike.
The cost of heating last increased in Narva in 2008, while in 2009 prices dropped by half thanks to cheaper gas and oil shale.
The rate would now be raised from 21.03 euros to 29.72 euros per megawatt-hour.
Narva is supplied with heating and hot water by Eesti Energia's Narva Power Plants.
