Industrial Production Still in High Gear
Industrial production continued to show impressive results in April, cranking out 32 percent growth compared to the same month of last year and remaining on the edges of record territory.
It was the eighth month in a row that year-on-year growth topped 30 percent, according to Statistics Estonia, though the seasonally adjusted figure was at the same level as it was in March.
Manufacturing was up 38 percent last month compared to a year ago, pushed by demand from overseas, which accounted for a full 73 percent of the nation's manufacturing sales.
Export sales of manufactured goods showed a 62 percent growth over the year. Domestic sales, meanwhile, rose by a more modest 17 percent.
As in previous months, the star of the manufacturing show continues to be electronics, which saw a 325 percent production growth over the year and now account for about a quarter of the nation's manufacturing output.
The largest branches of manufacturing, wood and metal products, clocked production growth of 13 percent and 10 percent respectively.
