Unemployment Fund's Job Offers Decrease by Third
The number of job vacancies on the Unemployment Insurance Fund database fell almost by one-third at the end of February compared to the same period in January.
At the close of January, the agency advertised a total of 4,150 jobs, while in late February the figure had dropped to 2,820 – the lowest recorded number of the last 11 months. In October 2010, the agency's database held an average of 6,230 active job ads.
Throughout February, the agency advertised a total of 6,710 job vacancies, which was 500 and 4,100 fewer than in January and October, respectively.
The number of the registered jobless rose in February for the fourth consecutive month reaching 50,170, which makes up 7.6 percent of the working-age population.
The Unemployment Insurance fund paid insurance benefits to 27 percent of the registered unemployed in February, which was one percentage point more than the month before. The average monthly unemployment insurance benefit fell by 5 euros month on month, being 270 euros in February.
