Estonian game and berries take center stage in Grüne Woche
Estonian stand in one of the world's biggest food, agriculture and horticulture fairs, the international Grüne Woche in Berlin, will this year focus on game and forest pickings.
The 120-square-meter exhibition of best Estonian food was put together by the Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Estonian Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce.
"All the best tastes and products from Estonia will be represented. We took into account the German consumers' tastes and expectation for natural and exotic food," said director of the Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce Roomet Sõrmus.
The display includes grilled elk meat sausages with Põltsamaa mustard and rye bread, elk burger in a rye pocket with smoked bacon, pickled cucumber and horseradish sauce, hunter's soup with milk-caps, smoked elk fillet, sprat sandwiches with quail eggs, Baltic herring with beer crust, cranberry cake, and so on.
The stand also presents specific Estonian products, like different cheese, kohuke (a local sweetened curd snack), wild garlic butter, fish, honey, jams, berry snacks, sweets, herbal teas, forest berry juices, dark and light beers, natural apple juice, Vana Tallinn and Kristallkümmel liqueurs, Põhjaka buck-thorn schnapps, Moe vodka and many others.
Grüne Woche will take place in Berlin on January 16-25.
