A total of 651,500 people submitted income tax forms by the deadline on Tuesday evening. The Tax Board had hoped for 640,000.

The Tax Board is still hoping to increase that figure, saying those who fill in their 2014 tax forms now, will not be fined.

The percentage of people doing their taxes online was 96 percent, the same as last year.

The total sum of tax payed back is yet to be published. The figure was around 90 million euros paid out with the state raking in 19 million euros.
