Estonian Becomes Head of Statoil's Russian Unit (1)
An Estonian who worked his way up through Statoil over 20 years is taking the helm of the Norwegian multinational fuel company's retail unit in Russia.
Statoil Fuel & Retail Estonia's current corporate clients sales and service director Raimo Vahtrik will start on his two-year contract on March 10.
Statoil's network in the country is a modest size, with 33 service stations along 1,500 kilometers of road in western Russia and 400 employees.
But it is the market leader in Murmansk, one of three major cities it is based in, and is considered to have high growth potential in fuel sales.
Vahtrik started out in the 1990s as the manager of a Statoil filling station in Estonia.
