Tax Board to Open Employee Super-Register
Every person working in Estonia is to be registered in a new database that will be opened by the Tax Board on July 1, 2014, replacing a number of employment databases.
The register will be connected to the Population Register, and data will be shared by the Tax Board with other state agencies such as the Police, Health Board, the Unemployment insurance Fund, the Labor Inspectorate and the Social insurance Board, Delfi reported today.
All employees, including those on short-term contracts and interns must be registered before they begin work.
The move is aimed at tackling the problem of under-the-table salaries.
