Baltic Herring Fishing Season Comes to a Swift End in Pärnu
The fishing season for the Baltic herring has come to an end in the Gulf of Riga in the Pärnu County as the quota has already been exhausted.
According to the law, the Minister of Agriculture must suspend commercial fishing activity once 90 percent of the total quota has been taken, reported ETV.
By now, commercial fishermen have netted 4,959 tonnes of Baltic herring out of the total allowable of 5,510 tonnes in the Pärnu County, meaning that the fishing season came to an end a mere few weeks after it began.
