Photographer Wins First Prize at Fair in New York
Estonian photographer Sigrid Viir won the grand prize at the four-day Pulse international contemporary art fair, which ended in New York on May 6.
The award, which comes with a 1,900-euro prize, has been given out since 2006.
Cornell DeWitt, head of the fair, said that the prize has become the stepping stone for young contemporary artists across the world.
Viir represented the Temnikova & Kasela gallery based in Tallinn. Her works can be seen twice in New York during the month of June. Her first exhibition will be at the Winkleman gallery in Chelsea and the second in Brooklyn, where her works will participate in the Photoville project.
The jury consisted of representatives from prestigious galleries in New York, Cologne and Madrid.
