Puppet Museum Nominated for Prestigious Award
The NUKU puppet museum in Tallinn is one of the 60 plus nominees for the 2012 European Museum of the Year Award.
In September, the award committee visited Tallinn to get a thorough overview of the exhibitions, activities and aims of the NUKU museum, ERR radio reported.
Established in 1977 under the auspices of the Council of Europe, the award aims to find and introduce innovative museums which have a cultural impact on both international and domestic level, regardless of their size.
In addition to the grand prize, the nominees are automatically entered in a number of other competition categories. The winners will be announced at an award ceremony held in Penafiel, Portugal, on May 19.
The Kumu Art Museum in Tallinn won the European Museum of the Year Award in 2008.
