New 20-euro note enters circulation
A new 20-euro note has entered circulation from today. It has a number of new security features.
Among the new security features, a new portrait window depiction near the top of the hologram stripe becomes transparent when seen against light and reveals a portrait of Europa, a figure from Greek mythology. The emerald colored number changes hue from green to blue depending on the angle it is viewed at.
So far, 4.3 billion notes of the new bill have been printed.
The European Central Bank launched new 5-euro notes in 2013 and new 10-euro notes in 2014. New 50-euro notes will enter service in 2017, with new 200 and 500 euro notes set for around 2019.
