Estonian Unemployment Rate Lower Than EU Average
The euro area (EA18) seasonally-adjusted employment rate was 11.5 percent in August and September, according to Eurostat. That is considerably higher than the Estonia, which stands at 7.7 percent.
The euro area unemployment rate was down by 0.5 percent from September 2013.
The European Union (EU28) unemployment rate was 10.1 percent in September 2014. Compared to September 2013, 1.181 million more people had jobs but according to Eurostat's calculations, 24,512 million people in total are still unemployed in the EU.
The unemployment rate is lowest is Germany (5 percent), Austria (5.1 percent), Czech Republic (5.7 percent), Malta (5.8 percent) and the United Kingdom (6 percent). It is the highest in Greece (26.4 percent) and Spain (24 percent).
The euro area youth unemployment rate was 23.3 percent, EU rate 21.6 percent and that of Estonia 14.9 percent.
