Unemployment Rate Still Exceeds European Average
Although the unemployment rate has dropped rapidly in Estonia, the figure still exceeds the EU and Eurozone average, according to Eurostat.
Between the third quarters of this and last year, Estonia’s unemployment rate decreased from 16.1 to 11.3 percent – the largest drop record among member states.
In October, the unemployment rate in the Eurozone stood at 10.2 percent while in the EU the figure was 9.8 percent. Both figures had increased by 0.1 percent compared to September, statistics revealed.
The highest unemployment rate – 22.8 percent – was in Spain, followed by Greece (18.3 percent) and Latvia (16.2 percent).
On the other side of the spectrum stood Austria, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, where unemployment was between 4 and 4.9 percent.
