Estonian Air Sets Sights on 13 New Aircraft
In late September, Tero Taskila, president of the national carrier Estonian Air, plans to present Minister of Economic Affairs Juhan Parts with an ambitious business plan which foresees acquisition of 13 brand new planes by 2015.
Although the airline has not yet disclosed the planned investment, an estimated 400 million euros would be needed, according to Eesti Päevaleht.
Out of the seven current airplanes, only two recently acquired Bombardiers would be left in service.
According to Joakim Helenius, Estonian Air's chairman of the board, the company must boost up its air fleet as it would be the only way to avoid being squeezed out of the market.
With the addition to its fleet, Estonian Air will establish connections with around 30 key destinations instead of the current 20, according to Taskila.
