Former Party Chairman Enters Aviation Business
On December 29, Jüri Pihl, former chairman of the Social Democratic Party and deputy mayor of Tallinn, became CEO of an aviation holding company.
Pihl (56), who was voted down from the chairman's post at a party congress in October 2010, remained vague in an interview to uudised.err.ee about his placing at Panaviatic Holding, saying simply that he would take a leadership role.
The holding company was registered on December 29, 2010 by Leonarda Invest, owned by Andrei Zhukov, the owner of a small bank named Äripank.
Having led the Social Democrats since March 2009, Pihl's resume boasts positions like that of the interior minister, prosecutor general and the head of counterintelligence agency KAPO.
