Scrap Income Tax, Says Former Minister
Former economy minister Meelis Atonen, who currently chairs Eesti Post's supervisory board, said abolishing the income tax should be the next step in the evolution of the nation's tax system.
Atonen, who was the economy minister for 17 months from 2003, told Postimees today that the income tax should be replaced by license fees for business activities and taxes on resources like land and roads.
Speaking against a progressive tax and even Estonia's signature flat tax, Atonen said that the current situation, where a person who works more also pays more in taxes, is unfair.
