Pensions to Rise 4.4% Next Year, Ministry Predicts
In 2012, the state retirement pension will rise by 4.4 percent, according to a recent economic forecast published by the Ministry of Finance.
Such an increase would mean an additional allocation of 70 million euros from the state budget, said Sven Kirsipuu, adviser at the Finance and Strategies Department at the ministry.
Currently, retirees who have worked in Estonia from 15 to 29 years are entitled to a state pension of 180 euros per month. A total of 245 euros is given those who have worked 30 to 39 years, while 40 to 43 years of labor entitles a retiree to 288 euros.
The recipients of highest state pension, 306 euros, must have been employed in the country for least 44 years.
This year, pension levels remained the same as they were in 2010.
