Postal Service to Acquire Another Batch of Natural Gas Vehicles
National postal service Eesti Post is planning to lease around 20 natural gas-fueled vehicles this year and has initiated a public tender for the deal that includes maintenance and repair services.
According to Kaido Padar, head of Eesti Post's Administrative Division, the company already uses 18 vans that run on natural gas as part of its 450-strong fleet, and the vehicles have turned out to be durable as well as extremely economical. "So far, cost-benefit studies have shown better results than we dared to expect," he said.
Eesti Post hopes the receive the first vehicles from the new batch in October, Padar said, adding that in the near future it is possible that 10 percent of its fleet will be running on alternative fuels.
The company acquired its first five natural gas vehicles in 2010 and another 13 last year. "We acquire the cars in accordance with our needs and the expansion of refueling options," said Padar.
