Unemployment Benefits Seekers Up, Job Offerings Down
The number of jobs brokered by the Unemployment Insurance Fund decreased month on month for the first time since earlier this year.
The number of openings as a snapshot at the end of November was 4,600, down from 6,200 in October.
Over the entire month of November, the Unemployed Insurance Fund intermediated 10,300 job openings, which was 500 less than the month before.
Registered unemployment also grew for the first time in a while. It had been declining since early 2011 but as of the end of November there were 47,200 registered - 700 more than the month before.
The Unemployment Insurance Fund paid compensation to only 18.5 percent of the registered unemployed in October, about the same as in September.
But the number of those receiving compensation has been decreasing since July. The figure stood at 20.6 percent in June.
The average monthly benefit was 298 euros and the total payout was 2.5 million euros.
The separate 64-euro monthly unemployment allowance was received by 9,100 people in October, which was 18 percent of the people listed as unemployed during the month.
