Elering Applies to Increase Network Service Fees
To pay for large-scale investments it is making into network infrastructure, the nation's grid operator, Elering, notified the Competition Authority today that it plans to raise the average rates it charges for network service by 0.154 cents per kilowatt-hour as of January 1.
The change would mean that the average household will see a 41-cent rise in their bills per month, according to Elering's calculations.
Elering CEO Taavi Veskimägi said the tariff increases were calculated to cover the 149 million euros it has invested into improving Estonia's electrical networks, and follow the three-year goals set in the company's development plan, reported uudised.err.ee
The Competition Authority's network fees calculation methodology stipulates that the operator must submit a network fee plan every three years to be confirmed or rejected. The annual correction form, such as the one Elering filed today, takes investments, changes of transfer capacity, electricity losses and other costs into account.
