UK, Denmark and US Most Popular Student Destinations
An increasing number of Estonian high school graduates appear to be choosing universities abroad, based on numbers from Tartu. The most popular student destinations are the United Kingdom, Denmark and the US.
Four years ago about 3 percent of all high school graduates from Tartu continued their education abroad, but this number has now doubled, according to Tartu City Council's Education and Science Department.
The most popular destinations are universities in the UK and US, which account for nearly two-thirds of enrollments.
However, according to the Dream Foundation, which helps students enroll in more than 50 universities in Europe (in all levels, not only for undergraduate courses), their most popular destination is Denmark, where higher education in free.
The total of high school graduates from Tallinn who choose to do their undergraduate degrees abroad is around 8.3 percent.
