Ilves to have an open lecture at noon today at Tartu University
Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves is giving a lecture today at noon at the Main Hall of Tartu University on the topic of "The Changing Security Environment and European Values". The lecture is open to the public.
Ilves will speak on the international security situation and how it has changed over the last year in connection with the crisis in Ukraine, where he will talk about how annexation and the implantation of violence and intimidation in the territory of another state have violated applicable international agreements.
It is a topic that Ilves has addressed in many speeches abroad in the last year, including the United Nations in September regarding the presence of Russian troops Ukraine, and the annexation of Crimea.
The President will also address Europe’s and Estonia’s situation, and what are the ideological and philosophical backgrounds of what we should do to protect and preserve democratic values.
Ilves will also take questions during the session.
When the lecture begins (in Estonian), it will be carried on Tartu University Television, www.uttv.ee.
