World Cup, Song Festival Draw Most Viewers in July
Estonian inhabitants watched an average of 2 hours and 54 minutes of TV in July, and the World Cup final and the Song Festival on ERR glued the most people to the screen, according to TNS Emor.
But it wasn't enough to allow ETV to catch Kanal 2 in overall viewership - the two often trade places at the top of the rankings. Ratings were won by the commercial station (23.0 percent), followed by ETV (22.1 percent) and TV3 (14.3 percent). In the Russian-speaking media space, the top three was PBK (18.7 percent), NTV Mir (17.3 percent) and RTR Planeta (13.0 percent).
Viewing time differences between ethnic Estonians and non-Estonians were largely insignificant, with the latter with 12 more minutes of time in front of the screen.
The final match between Argentina and Germany had 189,000 viewers per minute, while many song festival broadcasts had over 100,000 viewers per minute. The bronze World Cup match had 8,000 viewers per minute more than the Netherlands-Argentina semi-final.
